And now the day draws to a close
It begs me Dear take your repose
Darkness fast encroaches
While the witching hour approaches
Wolves howl and spirits prowl
October's chill and Halloween's thrill
Leaves crunch, squirrels munch
On hickory nuts and such
The moon shudders and pulls her
Cloud cover tighter 'neath her chin
Jack-o-lanterns grin with delight
In the pitch black of a fall night
I lean upon my window sill
And try to spy some strange sight
When I see that all is still I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
If I should die before I wake
I pray the Lord my soul to take
